CYNTHIA

Cynthia Sudduth, M. S., CCC-SLP has nearly 30 years of experience practicing speech - language pathology. Years of experience coaching families with their littles, as well as preschool, elementary to 21 year olds in the school system.  She worked in a corporate daycare, birth to six years, when she decided to pursue her masters in communication disorders.

Evaluations, consults, direct and indirect therapy.  Cynthia's passion is for helping facilitate communication, which includes working as a team with the family, caregivers and specialists.  She emphasizes understanding where a child is at and building understanding and expression from there in a functional, useful way in their natural environments and routine.  She has always loved children and was curious about supporting their learning and growing in a proactive way. When working at a corporate day care with littles, she realized she loved interacting with them and helping them engage, communicate and participate even before receiving her Masters in Communication Disorders from Cal State Hayward- now East Bay.

In her free time away from work, she enjoys gardening, hiking and creative endeavors and most recently being “grandma” for the first time!

Coaching families and caregivers is the main focus. First, there is an evaluation.  Then therapy via coaching.  A mix of in-person and remote services, hybrid is ideal for best outcomes. Speech Language therapy services will consider the child’s natural environment, the child’s interests, and the family’s daily and weekly routines and activities. Both understanding language and expressive language development will be supported as needed. Various modalities of communication will be facilitated and supported while verbal communication is developing.  Communication modalities include but are not limited to gestures, body language, sign language and other augmentative and alternative communication, such as picture communication boards.  Becoming a Communication Partner is emphasized too.  When we use the modality we are teaching, comprehension and expression with that modality or verbal expression tends to increase.
